Murgi Topko Petrogylph Site

Along the right bank of Siachen River lies the boulder strewn hill of the Murgi Tokpo petrogylph site. The vast site comprising of five zones, is located along the alluvial fan of the murgi torrent (tokpo). The location is known as rdo nag – ‘black rocks’ a nod to the desert varnish that darkens the surfaces of stones here.

Petroglyphs stand as the sole tangible remnants, offering insights into Ladakh’s prehistoric era, predating its recorded history.
